  • Inclement Weather

    Player safety remains TSC top priority.  As we are approaching the days of inclement weather, the forecast calls for thunderstorms, heavy rain and hail are expected this evening 10/3.

    Please watch your email and look for messages from your coaches. 

    Parents - Please stay close by the fields as thunderstorms are expected players will need to shelter immediately if lightning flashes or thunder sounds. 

    Here are the rules set forth that we abide by.

    These are to be utilized during games and practices.

    Outdoor activity may resume 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder or flash of lightning. The 30-minute clock restarts every time lightning flashes or thunder sounds. If it’s been half an hour since thunder, it’s safe to go outdoors.

     

     -What should I do when there is an injury? Do I take a knee. The answer is NO!

    What should Players Do Differently on Cool/Wet Conditions?

    Its common practice among coaches to encourage players to ‘rest’ during an injury stoppage, often taking a knee or gathering together for a quick word of encouragement.

    While this makes a great deal of sense in hot and humid conditions, when the weather turns cool we often place the children at greater risk for injury.

    In cold or cool conditions, athletes not sufficiently warmed up or stretched suffer a higher rate of muscle pulls, tears, and generally suffer contusions with more damage. During any injury stoppage in these types of weather conditions (Cool/Wet), have your players stretch lightly, or, if cold enough, jog lightly in place, moving their arms to keep their heart rate up and muscles sufficiently supplied with blood and oxygen.
